A Unique free course supported by the European Social Fund
Learn to sing as part of a choir
If you’ve ever imagined yourself as part of a choir, now’s your chance to learn how to make it happen. This FREE course is delivered by Sue James, UK multi-nominated country star, seven European top ten hits including two Number Ones, and extensively toured with George Hamilton V, Charley Pride and Raymond Froggatt.
This course will start on Zoom, with the intention (subject to prevailing legislation) to end the course by meeting up in a suitable venue. At the end of the course Learners will be given a Certificate of Course Completion, along with a recording of their singing as part of the choir – provided on a CD and in a special presentation case.
The project is organised by WEA (Workers Education Authority) with funding from the ESF, and delivered by She Inspires Foundation.
She Inspires Foundation is a Community Interest Company dedicated to the support of victims of domestic abuse, and survivors are welcome to be part of the course.
Everyone is welcome, subject to eligibility, whether you think you can sing or not. We want you to feel the confidence that being part of a music ensemble can bring you, and know that you will not be disappointed. We understand that the virtual world of Zoom technology is not ideal for synchronised voices but we will persevere with helping you develop your own skills as well as being part of a group. You can repeat what Sue sings to you in front of the group or, if you prefer, we’ll put Sue and you in a ‘breakout room’ for a few seconds so no on else can hear, before you both rejoin the group. So whilst there are obvious disadvantages when forced to remain apart, anyone too shy to perform in front of others will find this their ideal solution.
What is certainly true it that everyone will finish the course feeling better about life and themselves. And we want you to demonstrate that by volunteering to become part of a choir for the future, beyond the pandemic!
